Job Title: Community Service Manager
Location: Bristol Estate Community Centre, Donald Hall Road, Bristol Estate, Brighton, BN2 5DJ (This may include some remote working as required.)
Hours: 20 hours per week (flexitime). This may include weekend, early morning and evening working based on need.
Salary: £15-20 per hour, based on experience. This is a self-employed role.

Role Overview:
The Community Service Manager will be integral to supporting the daily operations of BELTA and managing the community centre for its continual benefit to the community. This role involves operational management, financial oversight, event coordination, and community engagement, underpinned by a deep understanding of the Bristol Estate's demographics and challenges. The ideal candidate will leverage skills and insights gained from working as a Trustee or similar leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the daily operations of the BELTA Community Centre, ensuring efficient and effective running.
Report on the current progress of the company to the board of trustees on a bi-monthly basis. Respond to questions and challenges posed by the board of trustees.
Oversee financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting as required by law.
Coordinate and manage event bookings and private hires, ensuring logistical needs are met and relevant information is distributed.
Prepare grant funding applications and oversee the delivery of funded projects in line with the trustee's strategic plan.
Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
Represent BELTA at various council meetings, advocating for the interests of Bristol Estate residents.
Engage with the community to understand and address their needs while promoting the centre’s services. Where opportunities are found, report these to the Trustees for consideration.
Demonstrate a thorough familiarity with the Bristol Estate, including its demographics, challenges, and community dynamics to inform the company’s direction.
Ensure legal compliance and safety of the community centre, volunteers, and users of the space. Write, update, and maintain policy.
Ensure all risk assessments and fire safety assessments are completed and up-to-date.
Qualifications and Skills:
It is a requirement that the individual has a strong connection to Bristol Estate.
Exceptional use of common IT software, such as Word, Excel, Google Suite.
Preferred experience with YNAB.
Proven experience in community management or a similar role, with skills developed through a leadership position such as trustee or directorship in the VSCE sector.
Strong financial management skills, including experience with budgeting and accounting.
Exceptional organisational and event management abilities.
Effective communication skills with a history of successful community advocacy. Including a history of working with the local authority and working synergistically with other VSCE organisations.
Familiarity with Brighton & Hove City Council structure and departments.
Familiarity with healthcare navigation and social care signposting within Brighton & Hove.
Deep understanding of Bristol Estate, its demographics, and community needs.
Ability to work flexibly and independently, managing multiple priorities efficiently.
