COMMUNITY ALLOTMENT

1.

ABOUT
The community allotment is open to all Bristol Estate residents.

2.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
A team of community volunteers cultivate and tend the plot throughout the year growing fruit, veg and herbs for the community cafe/shop. In return, volunteers take home fresh produce weekly/monthly.

3.

VOLUNTEER GARDENERS

You don't need to be an experienced gardener to get involved. You will be guided by others and there are regular skill shares. We ask volunteers to join a team rota and commit 3 hours per week.

4.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS
Our community allotment has a small store of community gardening equipment which is available for volunteer use.

5.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Allotment volunteers plan events throughout the year, including Soil Sisters and Children's Horticultural activities. We encourage residents to grow from home, such as windowsill herbs and fruit and veg on balconies. Look out for classes to help develop your green fingers!

6.

WHAT'S GROWN AT THE ALLOTMENT?

Volunteer gardeners plan a seasonal calendar. They also consult with the community cafe/shop to ensure a regular supply of core items e.g herbs, root veg, salad.

7.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Add your name to a waiting list and we'll be in touch as soon as a slot becomes available. The allotment provides 10 volunteer gardener slots each year and we try to ensure as many people are involved as possible.
